Since 2019
About
A festival for orchestral music that does not exist yet, held in the halls it is written for.
New orchestral work gets commissioned in about forty rooms worldwide. For six days a year we would like most of them to be in Prague.
The summit began in 2019 as three days in one hall, forty people and two commissions paid for out of a grant that had been meant for something else. It has kept the same shape since: composers write for a specific room, the room is booked before a note exists, and the players are told who wrote it only once they have read it.
Nothing here is premiered twice. A piece is played, discussed the following morning with the composer sitting in the hall, and then belongs to whoever wants to programme it next. We keep no exclusivity and ask for none.
The festival is run by six people all year and about ninety in April. It is funded by public money, foundations and a small number of companies, and its accounts are published each March.

Six people work on the festival all year. Another ninety arrive in April and make it actually happen.

Contact
Four addresses, and the person behind each of them answers it themselves.
Press enquiries are answered within a working day. Everything else takes as long as it takes.
Composers Summit Prague is a registered association, funded by a mix of public money, foundations and companies. Its accounts are published each March and its programme is decided by a panel whose members are named before the deadline they judge, not after.
Scores submitted to the open call are read blind and are not retained. Delegate and ticket data is held only for the edition it was bought for. We do not sell it, share it, or use it to advertise anything.
The festival is held in three publicly owned or publicly accessible halls in Prague. Access requirements for each are listed on that venue’s page; if something there is wrong or missing, the box office address above reaches a person who can fix it.
